How nerdy are you?
This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.
So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?
As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.
Revel in your own nerdiness.

Obsessive compulsive maker
I make things rather than buy them.
My flat has velux type roof lights, without the brackets for the very expensive velux blinds. Instead of taking up the landlords offer of some free blinds I made my own (brackets and poles included). It took nearly 6 months to eventually finish them all but they're ace.
Having finished the curtain project I needed a new challenge so not content with buying a TV from a shop I bought 4 TFT monitors off ebay and have mounted the panels in a 2x2 metal frame I made. Unfortunately the internal cables weren't long enough but today some longer ones arrived from an industrial electronics wholesaler. The top right one works but not wired the others up yet.
My doors are wired up to about 50 white LEDs which provide just enough light for 60 seconds after a door is opened to allow you to get your shoes on/off and find the desired door handle.
I also regularly take my bike completely to pieces in order to clean it, only to go out for a ride in the mud the next day but that's not quite what I would call 'nerdy'.
