This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

Ooh and another one
25 years into photography (still film mind, none of this new fangled digital shite) and 15 years working in camera shops means that even now I can identify probably about 95% of traditional cameras I see after a ridiculously short glance.

On reflection it's a good job nobody ever liked me anyway really.

*Sigh!*

Sir, these toys next to this pram, are they yours?
a) was being ironic, (Imagine me saying it in the voice of the Major from Fawlty Towers) the whole better or worse debate is thoroughly academic, the 2 are merely different

b) you're point does not prove that digital is better as a medium for photography, merely more convenient for the application you use it for. A Formula 1 car is not better than a Rally car, a Ford transit is not better than a Ford Ka etc

c) it is purely a personal preference. The results I get from film suit the photographs I take, but to get the best out of a Digital SLR you need skills in for instance Photoshop which I have not yet, nor had time to, get to grips with. Stick me in a darkoom however and I know what I'm doing

d) anyone who thinks that half of hour of tapping a girlie girlie keyboard is as manly as fannying about for hours on end in a room with no lights and trays of toxic chemicals is clearly somewhat uncertain about their sexual preferences

Edit: the point of the post was that by a mere glance if I see a camera on the telly I may well recognize it, which is nerdy. Top marks however on your squabble starting skills.

You spelt something wrong
in the case of b) it should be Your rather than You're.
