This is a question The nicest thing someone's ever done for me

In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.

In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.

Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

What I found heart-breaking
is that if you didn't have that photo up, or if you weren't Tony's brother - he would have kicked you out of your house no questions asked; it was just his job.

Poor bastards everywhere - I salute you.

Spot on
so, as a bailiff he goes around doing a nasty job fucking up peoples lives, but he could in fact choose to work on say the national debt helpline and share all these tips and tricks and help lots and lots of people. Then he would be a good person.

Maybe
this incident turned his head and he does now spend his time helping out other in this predicament.

Lord knows there are going to be plenty of others like this very, very soon.

without condoning bastardness
someone has to do the bailiff job, and I suspect that the vast majority of cases are ones where some fucking numpty has got themselves in debt up to the eyeballs because they are thick as shit.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people but that shouldn't be taken out on some bugger doing his job.
