The nicest thing someone's ever done for me
In amongst all the tales of bitterness and poo, we occasionally get fluffy stories that bring a small tear to our internet-jaded eyes.
In celebration of this, what is the nicest thing someone's done for you? Whether you thoroughly deserved it or it came out of the blue, tell us of heartwarming, selfless acts by others.
Failing that, what nice things have you done for other people, whether they liked it or not?

That
is very cool...
Studio time is so expensive that any offer from someone else to pay for it should be warmly welcomed.
That's why I struggle along with my very, very low budget studio.
Now I just have to get the lazy bastards that call themselves my band to actually record something.

our drummer has a reasonable setup in his attic
which is how we got the recordings on myspace
proper studio time with a proper engineer is going to be the business though. should be mid-November hopefully!

The one thing
that made a massive difference to my studio was this.
It's a great toy, which is brilliant for guitarists as it's like owning loads of amps & effects, but all neatly contained in one little box.

that does look pretty cool
our drummer has a line 6 pod effects thing which is handy. I tend to just use my Marshall though. best distortion I could want.
I want a Mesa Boogie though....

Our guitarist is the same...
something about Marshall amps, clearly. But over time he'sdecided to humour me come to appreciate the wonders of the tone port.
It's great for bass though. I'm a big fan of my Ashdown Amp, but I can do so much more with the line 6 thing.
The pod effects unit does look good, I've been thinking of getting one for gigging, although I tend to just go for a clean sound when playing live... less to think about!

I need footswitches for live stuff so I couldn't use a pod
I use the 3 channels on my amp for live
clean, dirty rhythm sound and wailing solo sound :-)

*butts in*
I've gone for the simple option:
Orange Tiny Terror with the gain maxed out, Boss DS-1 for a solo boost and back the guitar off for a clean(ish) sound =)

what sort of guitar are using?
I'm sometimes embarrassed to admit I play a Strat, but it does what I want it to for our style
and it's got a humbucker in it
and it's gold and black :-)

I think
it's a different pod thing that I was thinking about... they do one which is for live rather than recording, which looks to be pretty cool.
