In search of a Rock night.
Does it count if you never set foot inside?
I was in Northampton for a convention and, as was my wont, fancied a pint in the evening. A bit of asking about turned up the address of a "Rock Night" that sounded promising.
An hour later I was lost, damp and trudging through somewhere that looked suspiciously like an industrial estate when I saw a queue in the distance. "Hurrah" I thought and opicked up my stride.
I came up to the doors. And heard The fucking Eurhythmics wibbling on about Sweet Dreams.
Disconsolate I turned and made my soggy way into the grim streets of Nothampton once more.

Having spent several of my formative years
in the blackhole of humanity named Northampton, I sympathise. The closest you get to a rock night there is going to the park, at night, and looking at the rocks...

I spent
an entire week in Northampton on a course. Christ what a shitehole.

I was holed up in the hotel a couple of miles outside the town (not unlike Crossroads Motel if I recall), but managed to cadge a lift into town one night to sample some action.

It was shut. The whole fecking place. It was like a ghost town. I decided to go to see a film at the newly opened mulitplex thingy. I was the only customer in the entire building! I went up to the counter for a coffee and a hot dog, and was served by 6 people simulataneously. I was the only person in the cinema itself ('Ali', for those interested).

The film finished, I came out, and looked for a pub to go for a quick couple of pints.

They were all shut. Half past 10 on a weeknight, and every pub was shut.

I looked for a chippy, or pizza place to grab a quick bite. Again, everything was shut.

What the fuck?

That's complete crap.
On any weeknight, there's at least 3 or 4 pubs open, and at least one or two kebab/pizza places. I'm assuming by "newly opened multiplex thingy" you meant Sol Central in the middle of town. About 30 seconds walk from 2 pubs and 2 kebab places.
