I never open found wallets or pursesI found a purse in the changing rooms at Butlins and opened it to see if I could find out who it belonged to, just as the owner came looking for it. Someone had already lifted the contents, but the as I was caught with my nose in it, I got filthy looks from the owner all weekend.
Now I just hand them in without opening. Safer that way.
