I should have been arrested
Faced with The Law when I and a bunch of equally idiotic mates set off a load of loud explosions down the local chalk pit, we blamed bigger boys who had run off. Tell us of the times when you got away with something naughty and slightly out of order.
Thanks to MatJ for the suggestion

The way I saw it then
rightly or wrongly, was that if stopped I would much rather be able to place my bags of weed straight in the hands of the law, than have fart-arsed about trying to hide it, and then get the rubber gloves treatment for my trouble.
One unfortunate by-product of this approach was that when flying back from Amsterdam one time, I put my jacket in the overhead locker. When I opened the locker when we landed, the effect was like a cannabis-flavoured stink bomb being unleashed. Many were the looks I got.
I deliberately took the stuff into the Caribbean so as not to fuel the drugs economy there. Talk to a local, see what they feel about loads of tourists buying drugs there - it's the thing that creates the most crime locally.
BTW all of this is very much past tense. Like I said, I've lucked out enough so don't intend to take any through any more borders...

I really don't think that handing over a bag of weed would make any difference to the ensuing search.
