This is a question I didn't do it

Chthonic wants to know about awful, terrible things you have definitely never done. But secretly have. Confess!

What's the difference between a basics pineapple and a normal one?
They both come from a tree. Has one had a better education than the other or something?

Spot the deliberate(?) mistake there
Until recently, I also believed that pineapples came from a tree.
Having asked around, it seems that most people (who don't live in countries where pineapples grow) think the same.

But it turns out, they don't!

They actually grow in the ground, with the leaves sticking out and the fruit beneath the surface.

Weird, huh?

Wait. What?
Pineapple plants look a bit like a pineapple buried in the ground but the fruit doesn't grow below the surface - it grows on little spikes that stick up. A pineapple lolly, if you like.

Ah
The fruit doesn't grow under the surface. It grows on the surface. But you are right, it's not from a tree. You learn something new everyday
