Well I'm back from the St Etienne gig in Glasgow...
and it gives me great pleasure to report the following...
Sarah Cracknell is still "fit", perhaps "fitter" than ever before? indeed the cod-eye seems to have sorted itself out.
it was a truley wondereful gig, a rather cozey(?) atmosphere, somewhat "lounge"?
great marrying of audio and visual, a hint of self-consciousness, rather knowing, very cool.
the most chilled yet excited gig i've been to in years.
the abc1, 300 sauchiehall street is a really groovy venue and i look forward to going there again.

all in all, well worth the 200 mile round-trip and the 14 year wait!
over and out,
B69

Vive St. Ettienne
Saw them in Hammersmith about 12 years ago, loved them. Bought a t-shirt (white with 'St. Ettienne' in raised black velvet lettering, with black piping on the arms), and wore it when we went island hopping in Greece.

Went to buy tickets for the ferry in Peraus (sp?), and stared at a massive poster of some ferry while the wife talked to the guy. About 2 minutes later she elbowed me out my mong-state (hey, I like ships, waddyagonnadoaboutit?) and I realised the ticket guy had been repeatedly asking me the same question. I looked at him and he said, in the greasiest greek accent ever, "Do you liiiiiike St. Ettienne?". I started going on about Sarah Cracknell's voice and the cool retro sound of "So Tough", then realised he was asking me about the football team.

I got me coat....

Personally...
...I'd go through her like Hitler going through western Europe in 1939!
