This is a question Advice from Old People

Sometimes, just sometimes, old people say something worth listening to. Ok, so it's like picking the needle out of a whole haystack of mis-remembered war stories, but those gems should be celebrated.

Tell us something worthwhile an old-type person has told you.

Note, we're leaving the definition of old up to you, you smooth-skinned youngsters.

Best advice I got
was from my mum about 3 hours ago...

Never call your parents at 5am unless it's a real emergency.

In my defence I've been puking my gut up since around half past two and had rather ost track of time, so wanted to call and get reassurance that I wasn't going to die as it came out black. After she reminded me of the last time that happened I hung up and have vowed to drink far less coca cola.

Jesus
How much did you drink!? That's a bit mental, that.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 8:48, closed)
Top o' the morning to yer Mrs!
On a school night too? How very naughty.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 8:50, closed)
My usual amount
about half a bottle a day, but I haven't been sick in a few years so I guess it's built up in my stomach lining and then all come out. My puke is clear now if that helps ,)

@Sex face, we're talking regular coca cola here, nothing alcoholic involved :(
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 8:50, closed)

...nice.

Still, all that caffeine on a school night, you hard rocker, you.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 8:55, closed)
Yeah
I'm just rock hard me LOL

Edit: Well I've called in sick, so its up to you guys to entertain me now today
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 8:58, closed)
Tsk, tsk, tsk
Irresponsible young lady... I thought better of you than that. :D

So, did you call in sick at the old job, or is this the new one?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:00, closed)
I lost the old job
2 1/2 months ago and just started the new one last week. I know it doesn't look good, but I don't know why I'm puking, could be a food thing or a virus, so I'd rather not risk passing it on to anyone - aside from my flatmate - or spend the day there being ill.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:01, closed)
Fair enough Mrs,
You don't want to be vomiting all over somebody's Guinea Pig.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:02, closed)
I dunno
was just emulsion. But could be though *shrugs*

YAY FOR ANCRENNE'S LAST DAY.

I dont think anyone would thank me for puking on anything, so bed is best.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:03, closed)
morning folks
how are we?

apart from the vomitting..
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:03, closed)
I would say
come here and hold my hair back while I puke, but it's not really long enough and I'm planning on being better by this afternoon.

Morning Vipros

as the famous line in Hot Fuzz
"Pub?"
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:08, closed)
True
but as I said yesterday, I'm a big believer in the puker cleaning up their own mess.

Waaaaaaaaaiiiiiiit...that's why I'm fucking sick. All that talk of puking and trains last night...Grrrr....shakes fist at B3ta induced vomiting
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:13, closed)
B3ta induced vom?
That much I can understand ... cf, goatse ... bleurgh
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:15, closed)
Poor kitty
I'll mop up for them, but nothing human
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:20, closed)
Nah
still refuse to do it. It smells so much worse than kitty puke
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:33, closed)
Loving this site
alife4sale.com/

eBay crazies, gotta love em
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:38, closed)
Dunno
I really want to ask them if he ok'd it with them first. I mean how can you guarantee that your friends will take on someone else because you paid them to?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:43, closed)
Oh...
I have vomiting related sympathy for you, in a massive way.

*hugs*
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:47, closed)
One way to discover
who your mates are I guess. I wonder if any will feel left out if he doesn't list their names individually.

Edit: Thanks Kaol
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:48, closed)
That's quite ok
I 'spose if you need cleaning up I should offer, just to balance things out...
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 9:57, closed)
Cheers
but I'm a very clean puker. Straight into the bowl and flushed :)
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:03, closed)
Morning everyone
*wades through puke*

Bloody hell, there's a bit of stuff on the carpet this morning, isn't there?

And why's it purple?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:03, closed)
*raises middle finger at k2k6*
*frowns*
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:04, closed)
And
good morning to you too, Kaol!

Fancy a fry up? Perhaps some nice greasy sausages? With brown sauce, and a couple of fried eggs.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:06, closed)
oooooh!
Yes please.
I love a nice sausage in the morning.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:07, closed)
So, ancrenne
How do you like your eggs in the morning?

Or should I ask Kaol that?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:09, closed)
Mr. K2k6...
What ever are you implying?
How would I know what ancrenne likes for breakfast?
*blushes*

Honestly, I'm not that kind of man.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:10, closed)
It's not purple
it's black K2k6. Well it was earlier. Now it's just clear bile...Mmm...

Is getting hungry now. Think I'll wait a few hours and have food.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:14, closed)
Sure...
When's good for you?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:18, closed)
It's just a whisper
that I heard on this board, Kaol.

Not that I believed any of it, of course.

No, not at all.

@Becky. Clear bile - lovely thought.

*bokes*
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:18, closed)
Hooray
I got K2k6 to puke just through the thought of me hocking one up ,) Remind me to never show you my beastie diary on live journal

K and A would you two just get it on already please?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:20, closed)
@ Becky
Do you realise what you just said? :S

If what they were doing on Thursday wasn't getting it on then I'm not sure what we're about to witness...
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:22, closed)
Sure gimme some money and I will
I mean more in the long term Gayer

Not sure really, I have a randomness folder of them
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:27, closed)
I know that's complete bollocks.
Need I quote you the reason? ;)
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:32, closed)
Ok...
Well I'm free this weekend.
So breakfast on Saturday.
Means I'll need to be there Friday night.
Means I'll need to get a train after work.
*shrugs*
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:35, closed)
Agrees
no matter how juicy, it's not fair to hold something said in drunkeness against another for all internet eternity
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:37, closed)
*sighs*
Okay. :( I'll keep my mouth shut.*

*Until I'm next drunk, possibly. :P
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:40, closed)
Damns them guilt trips...
Damns then to hells. ;)
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:42, closed)
Cider does indeed count as one
Your five-a-day.

So you could have cider and black, with gin as 3.

Then wine with potato vodka, as 2.

Then bask in a healthy glow.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:43, closed)
Even then Gayer
God the lives I could ruin by opening my mouth when drunk. Thankfully I have the friendship chip installed that keeps me from wrecking stuff in a major way.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:44, closed)
Would
five glasses of red wine count?

Grapes are fruits, aren't they? And red wine uses the skins too, for extra goodness.

Edit - the 'breaking confidences' thing is a bugger. I have numerous pieces of information I'd like to talk to people about but can't because they were told in confidence. So much as I'd like to hear the gossip, I respect you all more for not saying.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:45, closed)
Nah it has to be five different ones.
ancrenne, I meant sloe gin, but too late to edit now!
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:46, closed)
So
Merlot, Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir?
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:47, closed)
Aren't some of those different regions instead of different grapes?
/may be wrong
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:49, closed)
No
as ancrenne says, they're different grapes. But Rioja, for example, is a region, where the wine is usually made from Tempranillo grapes.

And Shiraz and Syrah are the same thing. The difference is where in the world they're grown.

I like my red wine...
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:52, closed)
The problem with wine is...
I learn about it whilst drinking it. Thus I forget by the morning.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:54, closed)
My problem with wine is
I worked in an off license too long so have seen first hand the ill effects it can have long term. That and the fact that alcoholism runs in my family.

Ancrenne: I also have various useless certificates in wine *feels speshal*
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:57, closed)
*feels becky*
I figured a pay it forward type of treat was more appropriate, I felt a little sorry for Speshal...
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 10:59, closed)
Pukes on Gayer
Pay it forward indeed
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:04, closed)
Ok...
Below it the patented K-Tech Drink-Yourself-Healthy programme.

Breakfast:
Cider - Apple, or pear.

Lunch:
White wine
Sloe gin

Dinner:
Red wine
Calvados
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:06, closed)
Think I might
stick to dry toast and bananas for today actually
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:13, closed)
If you smoke today
Then it'll be tempting to carry it in when you're at home, once you're done with work.

Then you'll be into "smoking at home mode".

Bad news...
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:29, closed)
Mornin' all
Still talking about puking?

@becky: Hope the recovery goes well. We're here to entertain you.

@ancrenne: Yay for being your last day at work. Do you finish at lunchtime today?

EDIT: @ancrenne: Use your bloody mindedness. Stay off them fags!
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:33, closed)
Vodka would be good
As leaving presents go.

I got wine from work at Christmas.
That was ok. I don't like wine, but free wine is the juice of the Gods.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:34, closed)
Thanks spakkaman
I demand much hula'ing and silly dancing to make me feel better.

I do actually feel a lot better than I did when I woke at stupid o clock this morning, almost human again.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:49, closed)
I can do the silly dancing
but my hula'ing need practice.
(, Mon 23 Jun 2008, 11:53, closed)
That's ok
you can work on it and wow me with your skillz later
