DrivingI've mentioned before that my paternal grandparents had a large garden. Their driveway was - I guess - about 100 metres or thereabouts long, and when I was in my early teens I was allowed to drive along it. There was just enough space to allow me to change gear once.
"Lift your foot from the clutch," advised Dad, "and, as you do, press on the accelerator."
I did. We kangaroo'ed a bit. Time to try again. Dad was a patient teacher.
"Easy on the clutch... now, more on the accelerator. Go on... more..." he advised as we headed towards the house.
"BRAKE!" he advised as I ran the car into my brother, who was crossing the drive at the time.
Ooops.

Oh, yes.Brings back memories of being allowed to do much the same thing.
I'll never forget trhe day my cousin put Grandad's car in the hedge!
