My nanused to have goldfish. I only use the "plural" as they were frequently having to be replaced. Once a fortnight, without fail, Goldfish would float to the top of the tank. We ended up referring to them numerically as "number 16" or "the fish", poor unloved bastards...
turned out the dosy old bat thought that whilst cleaning out the bowl, it was ok to just dump the fish under a running tap, ala dolphins.... though that would have to be a big fuckin tap....
