I had 2 rats given......to me on 21st Birthday by my housemates at the time. When they were revealed to me one was at the top of the cage, clinging on for dear life. It reminded me of the film Cliff Hanger so I named it Sly.
The 2nd one was put on top of my head by someone and it promptly released the biggest piss I have ever seen a small creature do. It reminded me of "Pisser Jed" from one of Lee Evans' videos so I named it Jed.
...they we both girl rats. I only locked them in their cage at night. opening their cage door 1st thing in the morning and closing just before I went to bed. They had free roam of my bedroom. They never chewed anything except paper and would quite often make a nest in the bottom drawer of my desk. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night being licked on the face by one of them if I'd forgotten to lock them up.

Edit: Oh yea... that they liked smoking spliffs. If I had guests and we were having a cheeky one and left it in the ashtray, one of them would soon realise and try and steal it!
