This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

festine lente...
Some people are scared of high speed. I hatehatehate the lack of speed. Slow things make me cringe.

The reason is that I get migraine, and one of the things that that does to me is to give me the hallucination that I'm falling... slowly.

For this reason, things that move slowly - and I mean slow, not just cautious-driver slowly, or dawdling pedestrian slowly - have an instant association with nausea and dizziness. I can't watch them: the sense of malaise is unbearable.

Cash machines
So how do you get cash out of cash machines? Surely there's always a chance that a female of the girl species will be there before you?

I have no problem with people doing things in a ramshackle way. But if they move slowly... ugh.

Some machines take and give back your card briskly and efficiently. Others do so very slowly indeed. They're horrid.

In a related way
I totally understand. The first sign of a migraine for me is part of my vision disappearing. It looks a lot like the afterimage of a bright light. So whenever I get a bright light in my eyes and get the afterimage I instantly feel bad. As this happens about 20 times a day when it's sunny, it's no fun. Migraines are shit.
