This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

Dog and Cat....
.... food.

It makes me shudder just to think of the colour, texture, smell and god forbid, the taste.

My brother has a dog. My mother-out-law has a cat and a dog. I have seen them both use a fork to extract that shit from a can. If I catch either of them doing it, I will wait until they put the fork in the sink, and then I will secretly get it and throw it in the bin - and then wash my hands thoroughly.

As a result, I have not eaten at either of their houses for over 10 years in case I get given an eaing utensil that has touched animal feed. I have thought of taking my own knife, fork, spoon - but the wife won't let me.

If I go to anyone else's house with cats or dogs I offer to take everyone out for a slap-up dinner so I don't have to suffer.

I don't mind animals - just their food.

I worked with a company that made dog food once. And I heard that if you visited the plant they encouraged you to try eating it to prove it was fit for humans. Fuck dat! I left the company sharpish.....

It is pretty gross
I don't like those cat food pouches you get, because whenever you squeeze the stuff out like snouty toothpaste, you always get some on your hand.

At least with a tin of the shit you can use a spoon.

I used to work in Tesco...
Where I would sometimes have to put stock in the pet food aisle and everytime, without fail I would end up with itchy eyes, sneezing and a runny nose. Which is odd because the animals themselves don't bother me unless they can cause me any pain. (See my entry for the QOTW).

What really drives me mad are adverts that try to make pet food sound tasty, eurgh!

It took me
ten minutes of looking at your username before I realised it was Mad One, in my head it was Madonay, like some mafia type person.

This is going to spoil it for you..
But at those houses where you eat (and I assume don't bring your own utensils) - the flatware at those houses have turfed out literally hundredweights of dog/cat food in their lives. You know that every one of them has been tainted by the evil pet food, so no matter how often they clean them or how thoroughly the taint remains.

Other than that.. good phobia!
