This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

First post - shame it has to be like this
It's not "mad" to respect other people's beliefs which might happen to be different to yours. Race doesn't matter, and those who suggest otherwise shouldn't live in this country.

I rather think
you're missing the point of most of these posts.

hear, hear
however that applies to everyone. So if UK citizen's sexual preferences, desire to drink alcohol, desire to wear revealing clothing, acceptance of mixed public bathing and so on happen to offend your religious / personal beliefs and you'd rather the country was run differently - tough. Either change the way we are through the ballot box, keep your opinions to yourself or leave.
Toleration works both ways. In the West, we have gradually evolved to be tolerant of everyone regardless of gender, ethnic background, sexuality and so on AND YOU KNEW THIS BEFORE YOU CAME HERE. If you want to live in an intolerant theocracy - there are plenty to choose from - but not here.

.
I agree with that Mordred, apart from "keep your opinions to yourself", as stating one's opinion is a fundamental human right.

Actually no its not is it, because you can't incite racial hatred!! Now I'm confused.

I don't think people should be allowed to make racist comments, but I also think people should be permitted to speak freely. What to do!!

Correction
Respect is something that has to be earned: it is not blindly given to anyone who asks.

Respecting other people's beliefs is something I will never do blindly.

Respecting other people's RIGHT to have beliefs which differ from my own is something that I will always do, no matter what.

There's a big difference.

And.. yes. You totally missed the point of this QOTW.

If they shouldn't live in this country
where should they live? Are you suggesting that other countries accept racism more readily? And isn't that a little bit... racist?

im not saying this is how i feel but just to be pedantic
so if someones beliefs are that people of darker skin, women the disabled etc are inferior to them you should respect that belief?
