Prejudice
"Are you prejudiced?" asks StapMyVitals. Have you been a victim of prejudice? Are you a columnist for a popular daily newspaper? Don't bang on about how you never judge people on first impressions - no-one will believe you.

No locals at Uni
Edinburgh Uni had a big thanksgiving thing which was advertised to the students for weeks and weeks. Not one mention of st Andrews day. and fuck all for Burns night. IM all for learning and experiencing other cultures, but not if we completely ignore our own. In saying that, you could count the number of scottish students at edinburgh on one hand so come to think of it, no-one at edinburgh will have heard of either of these events. nevertheless, i managed to force some haggis down my flatmates throat and now hes addicted. Score!!!!

presumably
this is to make the American students feel more at home, as no doubt Burns and St Andrews day will get shoved down their throat throughout the rest of Edinburgh.
Anyway, who does celebrate St. Andrews day? We should make Rabbie our national saint and do away with him.

That's outrageous
I think more should be done to promote Scotland and Scottishness in Scotland. More flags are needed as are more references to inventions, more pipe players in fact one on EVERY street corner. You should set up a fund to pay for the above, where can I send my donation?

It's also entirely untrue.
EUSA runs a massive and well-advertised ceilidh every burns night, as do various other societies at Edinburgh Uni. The poster is apparently blind. I lecture at "the other" Uni and even I saw the adverts.

This is totally untrue.
As the comments above state, there were loads of Burns night events. And who does anything for St Andrew's day anyway? It's not celebrated in anywhere near the same way as either Burns night, and Thanksgiving is a massive deal for Americans.
And far from 'you can count the number of scottish students on one hand' - 40% of the students at Edinburgh are Scottish, far more than from anywhere else (English students make up only 25%).
Rather than pointing out prejudice here, you're simply demonstrating your own.
