are you sure about that? I've worked abroad, and come back and worked no problem; i've also gone to uni after being away, and had no problems. the former mrs 2 shoes left the uk for 16 years and came back - again, no problem with finding a job.
are these jobs specifically barred to you due to having left the uk - what was the wording, or where did you get this info from? Some jobs may have entry requirements about being resident, but that's not the same as "i can't work here"
