This is a question Professions I Hate

Broken Arrow says: Bankers, recruitment consultants, politicians. What professions do you hate and why?

Bollocks
'end of'? Fuck....right....off

I *despise* that as a way of ending a diatribe. Do you think that your own musings (rantings) on an entirely subjective topic constitute some sort of irrefutable, absolute, concrete moral conclusion? Do you honestly think that you've considered every single possible argument that has been, or could ever be, put forward on this issue?

I don't go fox hunting, I never have, and I don't really want it reintroduced. But the ban on it was really obviously put forward because it was a soft target. If you want to deal with animal cruelty, try targeting the 50-odd million people in this country who enjoy the cheap, tasty reward of confining chickens to cramped filthy living conditions for the whole of their miserable lives so they can get cheap protein. No? That would be a bit more tricky wouldn't it, and you can't really portray almost everyone in the country as sick, twisted and probably inbred because that would lose you votes.

so you're saying it's not barbaric?
but I would say that I'm fairly well versed in the debate, living about 1.5 miles from where the Cheshire hunt resides, I regularly get to talk/argue with people on the subject...

Unfortunately most are so set in their barbarian ways there is little that I can do to get my opinion across, but it does make a good afternoon beer garden discussion.

Nope
"so you're saying it's not barbaric?"

Nope, I'm saying that it's a matter of opinion and so 'end of' is a ridiculous thing to say.

'Unfortunately most [ignorant townies] are so set in their [sentimental, tree hugging] ways there is little that I can do to get my opinion across, but it does make a good afternoon beer garden discussion.'

Fixed that for you. Obviously, that's not what I actually think, but it seems to me that subjective allegations of barbarism are not a good basis for government policy.

Hmmm...
'End of' - right, your grasp on the English language is obvoiusly better than mine, so will take your word for it.

'Unfortunately most [ignorant townies] are so set in their [sentimental, tree hugging] ways there is little that I can do to get my opinion across, but it does make a good afternoon beer garden discussion.'

I'm no townie!

Ooooooo-arrrrrrrrrr!
"I'm no townie!"

I know, you said. You're probably not sentimental or tree-hugging either. It just goes to show that name calling doesn't really add much to a debate.

Sorry, thought that was what you were implying.
not particularly a tree hugger either although I would rather see a load of fields than a load of roads.

True.
