the problem is most DJs shout at you
most of them don't seem to realise that radios have this thing called a "volume control" which will enable you to make the sound louder if you are having difficulty hearing the DJs voice (should you wish to do so)
it doesn't quite work the other way around, if a gibbering idiot is shouting at you and you turn the volume down, it's still a gibbering idiot shouting.

John peel was a notable exception, he was very softly spoken yet through the miracle of microphones, amplifiers and speakers we could still hear him perfectly
