Door-to-door electricity salesmen
I did door-to-door sales for a while. I hated it and left after a couple of weeks. I have a certain amount of sympathy with those trapped in its godawful clutches, however I have none for the fuckers who used to visit my nan's house. When it became apparent that she was suffering from Alzheimer's, we tried to make things more comfortable for her, however once we looked into her finances it soon became clear that she was signed up to pretty much every electricity and gas supplier going - the slimy cunts had been taking advantage of her slightly befuddled state and got her to sign anything they put in front of her. It took months to get it all sorted out, with no end of threatening phone calls and letters, mostly from me.

There's a special torture room set up in my basement for these bastards; if anyone could pass on their details, please get in touch.

..used to have an uncle who'd suffered a brain injury at an early age and as such wasn't deemed mentally competent enough to look after his own affairs.

This didn't stop mail order catalogue firms selling him stuff on 'pay by week' terms.
Unfortunately for them, when the threatening letters started turning up it was invariably pointed out to them that they shouldn't have sold him the stuff in the first place as he wasn't really the full ticket so they lost out.

What they didn't know was that he'd been out selling the stuff to the local scallies(who, to a man, thought they were ripping HIM off) at knock down prices.

I recently encountered these scum
from the point of view of trying to get a job.

The Cobra Group do this and seem to think that it is acceptable to hassle folk on their doorstep, be it for phone contracts, gas suppliers and general sales of crap.

They had the gall to tell me that they offered an exciting business opportunity for a media sales driven, executive! If you would care to punish them, I would gladly pump the bellows to heat your coals that make your pokers glow.

turned out to be door-to-door after dark on estates I was too frightened to venture onto in the daylight

I did this when they deregulated the gas in 1997
I signed up 3 contracts over 2 days and knocking on god knows how many doors. A lot of them thought it was too good to be true. The rest didn't care. It was soul destroying when no one was interested.

If I knocked on a door and an old lady answered the door, I used to tell them I'd got the wrong house and leave them alone.

That's bloody despicable
Once when I was home with a migraine and dosed up to the eyeballs on painkillers, a rep from Telstra came around and signed me up for a huge phone and internet bundle when it was clear that I would sign anything put under my nose. Fortunately the useless fuckers never got around to connecting me, so I dodged a bullet there.

Still not as bad as preying on a helpless old lady though.
