Put down by my devastating witI was helping my nephew with some internet research. It was biology, and he was looking at a picture of the strange polygonal shapes made by bacterial colonies in shallow water - a landscape of rings and geometric patterns.
He was intrigued about how such basic creatures made such complex patterns, just through very simple behaviours.
"Yes," I said, "It's probably one rule to ring them all..."
I know, I know, not really a put down. Sorry.
