Last week, I thought we'd run over and killed something. After steeling myself to get out and find the body of somebody's beloved pet, I found we'd squished a bin bag. When has something turned out not as grim as you first thought?

I'm not sure what the point of this story is.
I think Ringo might be showing off about having a pool. Over in the UK it's pretty uncommon to have one's own swimming pool, so they aren't really objects of envy.
I think he might be displaying the early stages of a breakdown.

Why does he think we care that it's unpleasantly hot in Australia? Surely everybody already knows that. It's one of the main reasons that nobody chooses to live there.
