It's really not that complicated.
By pumping the throttle when driving, the car will start to lurch. This will cause the drink in the drinks bottle to rock back and forth splashing the drinker in the face.

It's been a while since I was a driver, but if I was giving someone a lift in my car the very last thing I'd want them to do is spill their drink all over the shop. In fact, if I knew they were going to be eating and drinking, it's questionable whether I'd let them in my car in the first place. Skeffy bastards.
