that's only because
we can stuff them with sugary treats and leave the parents to deal with the consequences.
also, aunties have more energy and patience than mums, as we don't have to look after the children day and night

My now 8 year olds favourite present for last years birthday came from her unmarried aunt.
A fucking tortoise.
Unfortunately, it, er, escaped by digging its way underneath the garden fence, about a month after we got it . . .
*It's safe and sound with her cousins teacher, in Wiltshire, who has three of the things.
