Thurso
The most northerly town on the UK mainland, It seems to be full of touring pensioners and not much else.

Stopped in a hotel there and discovered I was the youngest guest by at least 50 years, also found the beds have rubber covers over the mattress no doubt to ease the cleanup of piss from the elderly, incontinent bladders of the usual visitors.

Thurso is a shit-hole. Wick is where it's at.

P.s. most Northern town doesn't really count as John O'Groats is the most Northern village, Dunnet most Northern settlement and Dunnet Head most Northern point.

Yeah there are some pretty nice houses there it has to be said. The best thing about Wick though is the superior selection of pubs and the nicer people. Unless you venture into certain.. territories...

Thurso
It is the most most northerly town on the UK mainland and you probably stayed at the R hotel.

The local info is the mattress have not been changed sines the 3Os so the rubber sheets were a bonus.

You could have stayed in the newest hotel in town. 90s

A very nice place rebuilt on top of the ashes of the previous hotel. They don't do coach party's, it may have something to do older guests not being able too run fast enough in an emergency.

By the way if you meet any one that looks a bit dirty it is a person from Wick trying to live the high life.
