If my friend chose to make up a story about the tragic death of his sister then yes I have been duped. I can't see why he would. It's not just something I heard down the pub. I know him, his deceased sister and his cat - it was admittedly some time after his sister was killed that I bumped into him again. There you go. (And the family did keep in contact - I think the police lady came back personally because she thought she'd made a balls up of it and, understandably, felt bad).
