Another possibilityWhile the above is true, marks also depend on how the rest of the class does - maybe the rest of his class did worse than yours so it seemed better in relation.
However, it's also possible that by swapping the sections around, as you say you did, you made it worse - every marking scheme I've ever dealt with includes "logical flow" or similar.
