When I lved on my ownI always bought flowers for myself to have round the house - lilies - and failed in the eyes of the female check out staff when they said "do you want those wrapped" and I said "no, they're for me". I could almost see the speech bubble going "no, they're for your boyfriend".
I am (last time I checked) male.
