When I was young and impressionable and on holiday in France, I followed some friends into a sweet shop and we each stole something. I was so mortified by this, I returned them.
My lack of French hampered this somewhat - they had no idea why the small English boy wanted to add some chews to the open box, and saw it as an attempt by a nasty foreigner oik to contaminate their stock. Not my best day.
What have you lifted?

Piss easy... and I don't feel an ounce of guilt. Not one, mainly because the prices are extortionate, the trains are rarely if ever on time and usually they're dirty as hell. Further to this, the train companies pare back on everything they can- maximum profit for minimum effort. I always carry a book and mp3 player with me for the express purpose of fare dodging, and sufficient cash in case I get asked. Mainly because the fare conductors are in some ways like the ravenous bug-blatter beast of Traal- if you can't see them, they can't see you. Of course since I started getting season tickets the point is somewhat moot...
