On the other side of my town there is a Lidl.I occasionaly drive past when visiting my poor friends. I have no intention of going in, I'm pretty sure I'll never go in.
But for years now I've found there is no finer pleasure in this world than reading the 'what we're selling in Lidl' paper that arrives regularly on my doormat.

Customer demographicsI like Lidl as, being of German extraction, it sells the sort of continental foodstuffs I was brought up on. I have noticed that it is attracting more and more "posh" people bargain hunting, as well as the usual poor people and foreign motorhome drivers, seeking shops they recognise from their homelands. Lidl, the next Waitrose?
