^This^We used to have loads of other sizes etc. in our stock room when I worked in Burton when I was a Saturday gimp. Seems a reasonable question to me.

I agree it's a bitof a borderline moan, but I have always had the unshakeable feeling that all shops are only displaying 3% of their stock at any one time.
I do have a mental image of the place beyond the 'staff only' door being something like that place at the end of the Indiana Jones film, rows upon rows of mile long 100m high shelves packed with the stuff I want, in the correct size.
I may be mistaken though.

I think sometimes busy shops don't always replenish stock as quickly as they would at other times.If I'm looking for something in a certain colour (for example) I don't see any reason to not ask. After all, at the very least its an opportunity for sales staff to say no, but that they do have something else in the desired colour. Easy way for them to gain a sale and for me to be happy.
Most of the time they just grunt and go back to having a chat with their mate.
