OK right let's just clear this up once and for allThat bastard Adams stole my name! It was 1978 and he was writing Shada. I was round his flat buying a computer off him and he was elated when he heard my name! (Dr Nikkolai Skagra. YES I am a real doctor).
He said, "That's a cool name can I use it for the Doctor Who script I am working on?"
I replied. "Depends. What's the character?"
Adams said: "Well, he's a Time Lord - probably, but a nasty one. Like the Master only more Aryan, and he wears white instead of black, and he's got this cool scar, and we've asked Christopher Neame to play him."
Me: [I am a big fan of Dracula A.D. 1972] "Oh OK cool! Will you pay me?"
Adams: "Yeah, yeah - just invoice the BBC." [I recall him stifling a laugh, the cunt.]
I invoiced the BBC, nada. Not a grotzit! So Adams stole my name. But he's dead now, so I win.
