They are a bit
But that doesn't make them any less great. Apoptygma Berzerk could be described as Depeche Mode-lite, and they're bloody awesome

A friend of mine describes Mesh as what Depeche Mode would sound like had Vince Clarke not left to form Erasure. Not flattering but not inaccurate either.
Apoptygma Berserk are hilarious. Their cover of Fade to Black is simultaneously embaraassing and amazing. I'm going to dig out Welcome to Earth.
It was 2000 when I discovered EBM. That genre certainly was the soundtrack to my early to mid 20s. I've mostly moved on, but stuck with Mesh. I love those guys.
