I half-agreeI don't think there is fundamentally anything wrong in having "nice things", and in essence a lot of the development in technology (and, generally in other areas) is fueled by the desire for cheaper, faster, more efficent, etc.
Having said that, I agree with your point, there is no point in wanting more and better just for the sake that it is more or better.
