This is a question Amazing displays of ignorance

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

American People in Pompeii
On a med cruise, on an American ship we had an interesting time.

Now there were some amazing people, but considerably more total fuck-wits.
I recon most 10 year olds could tell you Pompeii's fate. We went on a nightmarish tour of the incredible site with perhaps 70 of the US's finest. There were probably 200 mentions of Volcano/eruption/lava. Vesuvius was visible from the moment we got on the coach, and the whole time we were at the ruins.

On the way back to the ship one old guy turns to his friend and asked 'So, did they all go mad and, like, kill each other then?'

not sure if this will work, but look at this photo of the Religious section of the on-board library.

I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise in September!
Sailing from Southampton - and Pompeii is one of the places we have booked to visit :)

How did you enjoy it? What other ports of call did you visit? Any particular recommendations?

1. don't go with Royal Caribbean
2. Pompeii is amazing, but Naples is a shit-hole
3. Villfrance/Nice/Monaco is very beautiful
4. Eat a big Brekkie on the Ship each day
5. Rome is cool. rather than spending £100s on an organised trip, if you catch the train from Civiceveccia (sp?) it is about 10 euros return. get off at San Pietro station rather than Central Rome.
Everyone I met in Italy and France was great, even the gypsy traders

you will love it.

Did any of them ask if the ancient sundials 'still worked'?
