This is a question Amazing displays of ignorance

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

It isn't bollocks.
We got pulled after a day in the pub. The girl driving was well over and blew positive on the portable breathalyser. She sucked on a tuppence all the way to the nick and blew negative. There was no way on God's earth she could have been below the limit.

So that is one urban legend I believe.

What?
Nothing to do with the inaccuracies of the roadside tester and that it takes time to get to the station for a proper reading, time in which she may just process enough alcohol to be back under the limit.

Not the amount she'd been drinking; more importantly the concentration of what had been drunk shortly before being pulled.
I've been done myself and been under when I got back to the station (once in the morning, one after a post-work beer).

It's supposed to be something to done with the alkali of the coins.
