This is a question Amazing displays of ignorance

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

Fair enough, all of this fabric-containing tape is generally referred to as
"Duct tape" these days, and only one brand is known as "duck tape".

but "duck tape" was the original, generic name for that type of tape and it has changed over time to "duct" for no apparent reason.

Duck Tape (TM) is a brand of Duct Tape which is a neologism for Duck Tape.

However, I doubt she knew that.

oh god hep me
Very good and all that but , we as a company were selling tape to stick to air ducts.
Thats ducts.
Not Ducks.
We had a product in our portfolio called "duct tape"
Sandra was calling the wholesaler to order some "duct tape".
We're all aware that there is a product called DUCK Tape - it even has a duck as a logo , I know all that......however this is England about 15 years ago and DUCK tape wasnt common in the UK then as it is now - she knew it was duct the supplier knew it was duct - ducts dont go quack quack.(unless theres a duck trapped inside)
