DIY Techno-hacks
Old hard drive platters make wonderfully good drinks coasters - they look dead smart and expensive and you've stopped people reading your old data into the bargain.
Have you taped all your remotes together, peep-show-style? Have you wired your doorbell to the toilet? What enterprising DIY have you done with technology?
Extra points for using sellotape rather than solder.

Improvised Etch-a-sketch
Take:
- several GPS satellites in geo-synchronos orbit
- one GPS unit that displays where you have been
- an 8 metre Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB)
- twin 50hp Mariner outboard motors
- three bored blokes
and, most importantly,
- Plymouth Sound on a calm day.
With all this kit, you too can draw a rudimentary cock and balls on the GPS screen at 35 knots.

POIDH
Alas the disposable camera was in the boat box that didn't quite seal after one of the engines was accidentally dropped on it. Developing wet film seemed pretty pointless.
