DIY Techno-hacks
Old hard drive platters make wonderfully good drinks coasters - they look dead smart and expensive and you've stopped people reading your old data into the bargain.
Have you taped all your remotes together, peep-show-style? Have you wired your doorbell to the toilet? What enterprising DIY have you done with technology?
Extra points for using sellotape rather than solder.

Telly in the bath is awesome
One Relisys 17" widescreen TFT TV, some glass, a pair of weatherproof speakers, some cable and a lump hammer. I now have a telly at the foot of the bath, set behind a glass panel, with remote control (in an Aquapac so it floats) and most of the AV inputs brought out to a connection panel on the landing. Plug an Xbox 360 and HD DVD drive in on the landing and I can watch movies, too!
Oh, one thing though - when making the hole in the wall, don't drop the lump hammer in the bath, it tends to punch through. Still, replaced the bath with a Jacuzzi, so every cloud...
