This is a question The Boss

My chief at a large retail chain used to decide on head office redundancies by chanting "One potato, two potato" over the staff list. Tell us about your mad psycho bosses - collect your P45 on the way out.

Bruce Springsteen jokes = Ban, ridicule

Maybe
He was trying to give you an opening to offload about all the problems with psycho manager. It's a fairly common tactic as people can't be seen to be leading you to criticise someone. If they know there's a problem with someone they're more likely to say "how are things going with your manager?" than "so what's that mental bitch done now?" (even if that's what they're thinking).

oops
To be honest, it didn't seem like that at all.

It seemed like he was trying to antagonise me - and it worked if that was his plan.

...but if it was - and in hindsight it certainly looks like that, then balls!

In my defence, I was young and naive ;-)

Bah - it was a shit job anyway!

We were all like that once. Old and cynical takes years of practice :)

^^
what SteamedCleaner said - it sounds like the answer he wanted to hear was not why you'd use swearwords, but what had wound you up in the first place.

Maybe
But then the second question should have been "What are you angry about", instead of repeating the same thing over and over and antagonising an already irate person. Bit late now to worry about it, I suppose!
