Tell us about measures that go beyond simple belt tightening into the realms of Mr Scrooge.

Bindun?
My old man: "Right missus, get your coat on."
My old dear: "Why, are we going out somewhere?"
My old man: "No, I am - so I'm switching the heating off."
This joke works on an additional level for my family, as my old man was so tight that he never put the heating on in the first place.

My mate's dad's 3 bar electric file
had settings 3, 2, 1 and "Miser"
He was never allowed to turn it up above miser-rate
