I do the same,
but I rarely muster the motivation to take 'em to the bank.
As a result, I have about 15 kilos of pfennigs in my cupboard that went the way of the dodo when the euro arrived. There's easily 100 quid's worth in there.
I plan to glue them to a table or something, but there's that motivation problem again...
