sounds like far more effort than just having a job and buying stuff. Not that I'm knocking it, mind you; I'm just very lazy.

Consumerism has made me completely dependent on everyone else packaging my food and building my gadgets.

For the time & effort that goes into the above, I can earn a wage that allows me a much higher standard of living. Why bother?
