I know what you mean
Funny thing is I also know someone like this. He was always a bit "outdoorsy" and was quite the sight walking through town with his wellies on, mud crusted trousers and combat jacket, all topped off with an electric shock ginger beard. Sadly his brother had a mental breakdown a few years back and as a result, they lost the house they were sharing. Not to let a simple thing like that get in the way of carrying on with his life, he promptly emptied his savings and bought a cheap caravan, he lives in it to this day, parked on the mountainside. He manages quite well on money he gets from doing odd jobs for people as he's simply the nicest bloke you'd ever meet (albeit a rather smelly one) and actually quite intelligent. My dad used to invite him around for a cuppa and a chat until they had a falling out but I blame my old man for that. Anyway, I got a shock when I bumped into him in the job center not so long ago, I stuck around and it was more than worth it to see the dissmisive bastards take one look and write him off as a lost cause only to have the dude spend the next half an hour going through his enormous CV and explaining exactly what he wanted to do with his life.
