My first time in New York I'd got the subway from the airport to meet some friends by the Empire State buildingMy very first sight upon emerging from the station at street level was a cop knocking a man to the ground and cuffing him. It really is just like in the movies.

In the middle of New York...We saw car slowly drive past with a screwdriver jammed into the lock. A cop saw it and pulled his gun out on the driver. We scarpered before the expected gun battle ensued. We didn't hear gunshots but it was still quite a shocking sight.
