This was a long time ago, so I can't say for sure,but I would be pretty confident both of us had a fairly good stash at our homes anyway, so it wouldn't have been like we were flushing the last of our gear down the pan.
It was just logistics. I did not want to go through immigration with illegal class A drugs anywhere near me.
