RomComs and women's magazines do far more harm than porn, IMHO - both have been accused of creating unrealistic expectations of relationships, but Hollywood romances probably cause more disappointment in the long run.

Though, as you say, it's a good filter to weed out the terminally twee and severely hard of thinking...

Add American teen dramas to the list too. They brainwash women into thinking their lives are markedly profound and sets their career expectations on a ludicrously high level.

Couldn't agree more. Hollywood/TV has a lot to answer for.
As a tool to weed out the mental, yes it was useful, though I would have preferred to not have wasted six months of my life with a girl who turned out to be a fruitloop. Oh well, could have been far worse!
