I used to live above a pub
It was a huge detached building, bar and kitchen downstairs, living accomodation and bathroom upstairs. If there were no bed & breakfasters there I would be the only person there. Strange things that I experienced there:

1. The door to one of the rooms would always be open if I left it shut, and shut if I left it open. The morning of the day I left the place, it was actually locked, with the key on the inside and we had to break in.

2. While I was on my way from the bathroom back towards my bedroom my cat ran past me going the opposite direction. When I got back into my bedroom my cat was sitting on my bed. Gave me right proper goosebumps, that one (and there's no way she could have got back past me without me seeing or hearing her).

3. One night after closing I decided to replenish the shelves while I was still up, thus giving myself a bit longer in bed in the morning. While I was in the cellar getting the bottles together I heard someone come down the stairs - there was no-one in the building apart from me. That was quite a scary one too...

Why would
your cat sitting on your bed be scary? Cats do that all the time.

Judging by the monotonous regularity with which I need to empty the litter tray, I'm beginning to think my cat might actually be sharing the mousing duties with a doppelganger.
