I started 'Ulysses' too......in 1985! That copy eventually fell apart some time in the 1990s. About five or six years ago, I found a good copy in a charity shop and carried on from where I'd got up to.
Read it for a couple of weeks at the rate of about half a page per night before giving up again.
One day...one day.
